Course Overview
Course 4 in the Women In Law Enforcement: The Leadership Ascent Series.
This transformative course examines the internal habits and external systems that impact the upward mobility of women in law enforcement. Using Sally Helgesen’s “12 Habits That Hold Women Back” as a central framework, participants will identify behaviors that may be limiting their influence, visibility, and advancement—despite strong performance and leadership potential. Participants will unpack how habits such as reluctance to claim achievements, overvaluing expertise, and minimizing relationships can unintentionally stall growth in hierarchical environments like law enforcement.
Through reflection, peer coaching, and real-world leadership scenarios, this course empowers participants to replace limiting habits with intentional strategies for visibility, influence, and sponsorship. The result is a personalized, strengths-based plan for rising into higher levels of leadership—while opening doors for others.
