Course Overview
Course 2 in the Leading Through Crisis: Behavioral Health and Crisis Intervention Series.
This course prepares leaders to implement and model crisis intervention strategies, emphasizing empathy, communication, and de-escalation skills within their teams. Leaders will examine real-world scenarios where split-second decisions during behavioral health calls impacted outcomes, both positively and negatively. Emphasis will be placed on the leader’s role in modeling emotionally intelligent responses and setting expectations for how officers approach volatile situations. Participants will leave this course with practical leadership tools to guide their teams through safe, humane responses while managing the inherent risks of crisis encounters.
