Overview:
In today’s rapidly evolving social landscape, the need for equitable public safety practices for certified officers is more pressing than ever. The Oregon Executive Development Institute presents this comprehensive 3-hour training designed to introduce participants to the fundamental principles of equity within the context of the public safety profession. This course aims to equip all certified public safety professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to promote fairness, inclusivity, and trust within their organizations and communities. Additionally, this three-hours course provides the training required to obtain and maintain certification for police, corrections, parole and probation, and liquor & cannabis regulatory specialists as detailed in ORS 181A.490

Overview:
Ethics is not a skill you learn in class, but rather a mind-set that guides decision making in all aspects of your job. This 2-hour online course provides students with the ethical principles necessary to make the right decisions at the right time, in the right way, and for the right reasons.
This on-line, fully interactive ethics course allows you to work through the course at your own pace. You can stop at any time and rejoin the course where you left off until completed. When the course is completed, you can print a certificate of completion, fill out an F-6 and send to DPSST.

Salem, OR, July 1, 2024 – The Oregon Executive Development Institute (OEDI) is proud to announce the addition of eleven of Oregon’s most esteemed police and public safety executives to its ranks. This strategic move marks a significant step forward in OEDI’s mission to provide unparalleled excellence through education in pursuit of making existing leaders better and emerging leaders ready to address the pressing issues of our day.
These new members form the Executive Advisory Board of OEDI and bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to shaping the future leaders of Oregon’s public safety sector. Their inclusion in OEDI underscores a collective dedication to fostering an environment of continuous learning, growth, and development within the public safety community.

These leaders are not only recognized for their outstanding contributions to public safety, but also for their visionary approach to leadership and education. Their involvement with OEDI will provide valuable insights, mentorship, and innovative strategies that will benefit current and future leaders alike.
“Since its first leadership training session in 1989, OEDI has been focused and committed to excellence through education. Over 1500 public safety professionals have graduated from the OEDI Leadership Academy, OEDI’s flagship “Annual Session” and in 2015 we launched our first on-line course to assist public safety leaders in ‘Navigating Leadership in Critical Times’. We now offer 15 on-line courses on a variety of topics such as Leadership, Communication, Ethics, and Equity in Policing & Public Safety. Over 2,000 public safety professionals have utilized our on-line courses which represents 32,000 hours of training and combined with the Annual Sessions we have provided over 107,000 hours of training to the public safety community” said Mt. Angel Chief of Police and City Manager, Mark Daniel.
The members of the newly formed Executive Advisory Board will actively participate in OEDI’s comprehensive programs, including leadership academies, specialized training sessions, online coursework, webinars, and peer-to-peer collaborative workshops. These initiatives are designed to address the evolving challenges faced by today’s public safety professionals and to equip them with the skills and confidence necessary to lead with integrity, resilience, and effectiveness.
